A lot of quit apps feel like a lecture with a progress bar. If you've ever deleted one after two days, NYX was built for you: it's a game first, and it treats you like an adult.
The gap is the game
NYX doesn't ask you to quit on day one. You log each use with one tap, and the app sets a gap goal: how long to wait before the next one. A live countdown runs on your Lock Screen and Dynamic Island. Hit the gap and you earn XP. Each week the goal adjusts to how your week actually went, so it grows at your pace.
Levels, missions and bosses
- XP, levels and ranks for longer gaps and skipped sessions.
- 100+ comic badges to collect.
- Daily and weekly missions, plus a daily login drop.
- Boss fights every five levels: an optional hold-out challenge for big XP.
An arcade for cravings
When a craving hits, the Idle Hands arcade gives you something to do for a few minutes: a nuts-and-bolts puzzle, endless bubble wrap, a circuit puzzle, a block puzzle, solitaire and Breath Bolt, a guided 4-7-8 breathing game. No ads ever interrupt a game you open during a craving.
A comic series you unlock
Season 1 of the NYX comic follows Nikki as she takes on Nicotine, a smug villain made of smoke. Each of the 10 issues unlocks at a real milestone, like your first skipped session or a 7-day streak, and each one carries a practical tip for cutting down.
No shame, no lectures
Slips are logged and counted, never punished. The weekly check-in calls a week good, steady or hard, shows the money you saved and explains how your goal changed. That's it.
What it costs
NYX is free with light ads: none in your first 24 hours, at most four a day, and never during a craving game. NYX Pro is $4.99 a month and removes ads. The whole game is free either way.
